Overview
Kodiak provides software for self-storage operators, including public rental pages, lead intake, tenant account workflows, messaging support, and operator dashboards. This policy explains how Kodiak collects, uses, and protects information when you visit a Kodiak-powered page, submit a rental inquiry, opt in to communications, or use a tenant or operator account.
Information We Collect
- Contact details, such as name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
- Rental and account details, such as facility, unit, move-in date, lease, balance, and payment status.
- Communication records, including call notes, email or SMS history, opt-in status, opt-out status, and support requests.
- Technical data, such as browser, device, page activity, IP address, and security logs.
- Payment and billing metadata when payment providers are connected. Kodiak does not store full card numbers.
How We Use Information
- To respond to rental inquiries, checkout activity, account requests, maintenance requests, and support needs.
- To provide tenant and operator workflows, including move-in handoffs, payment reminders, reporting, and work queues.
- To send service-related communications when permitted, including account updates, reservation details, maintenance updates, and payment reminders.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve Kodiak services.
- To comply with law, carrier messaging rules, audit obligations, and contractual requirements.
SMS and Mobile Messaging Privacy
If you provide a mobile number and opt in to text messages, Kodiak and the applicable storage facility may send messages about your rental inquiry, reservation, move-in, account, payments, maintenance, and customer service requests. Message frequency varies by activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel and HELP for help. Consent is not required to rent a unit or make a purchase.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent records will not be shared with any third parties except service providers that enable messaging for Kodiak and the storage facility, and only as necessary to provide messaging services, comply with carrier requirements, or satisfy legal obligations. Kodiak does not sell SMS opt-in data.
How We Share Information
Kodiak may share information with the storage operator connected to your inquiry or account, vendors that help provide the service, payment processors, messaging providers, hosting providers, security providers, analytics providers, and professional advisors. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
Your Choices
- You may reply STOP to text messages to opt out of SMS communications.
- You may reply HELP for messaging help.
- You may contact the storage facility or Kodiak to update your contact details or communication preferences.
- You may request access, correction, or deletion where applicable law provides those rights.
Data Security and Retention
Kodiak uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is completely secure. We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal or carrier obligations.
